» Dental Assisting Training – Dental Assistants perform many tasks requiring both interpersonal and technical skills, such as assisting the dentist during treatment procedures, taking and developing dental x-rays and preparing and sterilizing equipment, taking impressions of patient’s teeth for study casts, and performing office management tasks. A Dental Assisting Practicum allows students to work at dental offices where they can practice skills learned in the classroom in an actual dental facility. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, job prospects for the Dental Assistants is expected to grow 36% from 2008- 2018. Graduates are able to sit for the Certified Dental Assisting (CDA) credential and the Radiation Health and Safety (RHS) exam administered by the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB).
» Massage Therapy Training – According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, massage therapy is expected to grow faster than average between now and 2016 as more people learn about the benefits of massage. The massage therapist plays an important role in the growing health care fields of preventative health care, fitness, and stress management. Students participate in the massage clinic located at the school. The massage clinic allows students to practice techniques learned in the classroom on clients in the clinic under the supervision of a massage instructor.
» Massage Therapy With Myofascial Trigger Point Training - This curriculum is the most comprehensive massage program offered at the Institute of Medical Careers and instructs the student in fundamental massage practices/procedures and advances the student through the specialized massage modality of Myofascial Trigger Point. Graduates are eligible to sit for both the Licensure Exam regulated by the Pennsylvania State Board of Massage Therapy and the Myofascial Trigger Point Certification administered by the National Association of Myofascial Trigger Point Therapists. Graduates are qualified for employment in rehabilitation clinics, fitness centers, medical offices, hospital departments, massage salons, chiropractic offices and sports rehabilitation/fitness establishments.
» Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy Training – This program provides quality instruction in the theory and techniques of managing Myofascial pain and dysfunction. Emphasis is on treating the cause of the patient’s pain by treating the Myofascial trigger points in a comprehensive manner. This is first accomplished by learning postural patterns, perpetuating factors and actual treatment of the trigger point. Graduates are eligible to sit for both the State Massage Licensing exam as well as Myofascial Trigger Point Certification Administered by the National Association of Myofascial Trigger Point Therapists.
» Medical Billing & Coding Training – IMC’s Medical Billing and Coding program is designed for individuals interested in a career as a medical biller and coder in health-related environments, including hospitals, physicians’ offices, insurance companies, clinic and rehabilitation facilities. Students identify diagnoses and medical procedures and assign numerical codes for billing and reimbursement purposes. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Medical Billing and Coding job openings are expected to grow faster than the average between 2010 – 2020. Graduates are eligible to sit for third party certification examinations from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) and/or the American Association of Professional Coders (AAPC).
» Medical Assistant Training – This training program provides the student with knowledge and skills necessary for entry-level employment as a medical assistant in a medical office or clinic, with skills in office, administrative, and clinical areas. Medical Assistants perform administrative and clinical tasks to keep the offices of physicians and other health practitioners running smoothly. Medical assistants answer telephones, greet patients, update and file patients’ medical records, fill out insurance forms, handle correspondence, schedule appointments, arrange hospital admissions and laboratory services. Clinical duties include vital signs, preparing patients for examinations, assisting the physician with the examination. Graduates are eligible to sit for certification through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or the American Medical Technologist (AMT). According the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Medical Assistants job growth is much faster than the average through 2010-2020.
» Phlebotomy Training – This program is designed to provide the student with the knowledge and skills necessary to work as a phlebotomist in medical offices, clinics, hospitals, labs, research firms and other health agencies. Phlebotomists spend much of their time taking blood samples from patients to test for illnesses and health conditions, but their responsibilities are varied depending on the type of office in which they are employed. Graduates of the Phlebotomy program are eligible to sit for the Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) administered by the National Healthcareer Association or the Registered Phlebotomy Technologist (RPT) given by the American Medical Technologists (AMT).
